The Simpsons is a show that has long ago earned its iconic status. After 26 seasons, Fox has signed on for another two years and could even go further. Its longevity is impressive.

But unless viewers experienced the meteoric rise of Springfield's favorite family first hand then it might be hard to understand just how popular that the show really was in its infancy. The show was branded onto absolutely everything. Even Bart Simpson tattoos were sort of trendy thing at the time.

Given the gold mine that Fox had it wasn't surprising that an album was put out called The Simpsons Sing the Blues in December of 1990. It went platinum twice.

The lead single supporting the album was the mega popular song, "Do the Bartman." It had a standalone video that featured Bart Simpson fantasizing about leading his town in a pop rap song while he was readying for a way less fun school program.

Perhaps the most interesting fact about this successful TV music video cross over from the 1990s was that the legendary Michael Jackson was an uncredited writer for it.
