7 Things Iron Fist Season 2 MUST Learn From Luke Cage Season 2
1. Don't Be Afraid To Take Risks
Luke Cage’s supposed heel turn in the Season 2 finale may have been a bitter pill for comic book purists, but it was a great move for the longevity of the Netflix MCU. Iron Fist has every right to break its own rules if it works to the benefit of the show.
The other thing to consider is that, as frustrating it must be to the militant continuity buffs, the Netflix Marvel shows appear to have taken a narrative hiatus from the MCU films. A ring-shaped Black Order ship didn't arrive in New York at the end of Jessica Jones Season 2. And exactly half the population of Harlem didn't vanish into dust at the beginning of Luke Cage Season 2. Perhaps Avengers 4 will clarify why, or perhaps the Defenders-verse have at some stage slipped into a Dr Strange- sanctioned parallel world...
But one way or another, Iron Fist season two has a clear palette to do with as it pleases. So why not raise the stakes a little? Smashing free of its own constraints and turning the conventions on their head may very well be the best possible move it could make.
