7 Things Iron Fist Season 2 MUST Learn From Luke Cage Season 2
2. Don't Take Yourself Seriously
The overall manic personality traits of Danny Rand and the lack of any real humour in Iron Fist season 1 was one of the show’s biggest failings. By contrast the last season of Luke Cage knew exactly when to poke fun of itself and made for a warmer relationship between characters and audience.
It probably fits the bill that a twenty-something Kung Fu master in charge of a multi-billion company occasionally falls into a humorous context. To approach this with utter seriousness is a work that audiences will see straight through and find nothing other than irritating.
The future is looking bright in this respect. In his Luke Cage cameo, we saw a wiser, more jovial version of Danny, who still retained an undertone of intensity. And let's hope this is a balance they maintain in the next series of Iron Fist. After all, he is the lead character. So we have to be on his side.
In fact, pretty much the entire ensemble of Iron Fist characters could do with cooling off and giving the audience a bit more of a chuckle. Striking that balance surely makes them more human in the long run.
