7 Ways The Greatest Show In The Galaxy Is The Most Meta Doctor Who Ever

6. Are The Clowns And The Ringmaster The BBC Drama Department?

Most people assume (and more on this soon) that the Gods of Ragnarok are the BBC. But the BBC isn€™t a single entity, and while the Gods themselves may or may not be at the top of the food chain, there are always people below the head bosses at the BBC, eager to please their paymasters, even if that means having to do things they dislike. From the prancing, rapping ringmaster, who is clearly miserable, to the Clowns who enjoy their jobs a little too much, it is pretty clear that while the staff who remain at Circus do so in order to remain employed. As such, they are not necessarily happy. At the time, Michael Grade was on record as being very unhappy with Doctor Who, finding it to be outdated and with €œpoor production values€ (something he didn€™t try to help, of course) and appealing only to a few €œpointy-head Doctor Who fans€. There was no doubt that those in the BBC who perhaps did not agree with him or who had worked on the show still danced to Grade€™s tune and turned against the series and what it represented in the same way that the clowns and the ringmaster obey the Gods of Ragnarok.
