8 Doctor Who Companions Who Should Make A Return

Since The Thirteenth Doctor took center stage many fans have been eagrly awaiting for the announcement of River Song's return. Last seen in the The Husbands of River Song, it would seem that the complicated out of order timeline had finally been bought to a close. But the magic about the out of order timeline, is that there is no reason River Song couldn't return for a one-off adventure!

As long as the story didn't ruin the legacy left by The Husbands of River Song, bringing back River could offer some really interesting story opportunities. How would River Song react to a female Doctor? There doesn't seem to be any reason she would treat The Doctor any differently. After all, she did tell the Twelfth Doctor that he reminded her of her second wife. Perhaps The Doctor is both River Song's husband and wife? Very confusing, but also very interesting.

Chances are we will see River Song return in some capacity on the show. Alex Kingston has expressed interest in meeting The Thirteenth Doctor, and says that she's actually met with Jodie Whittaker and discussed the possibility of her return. If anything, it's more likely just a matter of time until we see River Song again.
