8 Doctor Who Companions Who Should Make A Return
2. Susan Foreman
Susan Foreman was the first ever companion to appear on the show and was actually The Doctor's granddaughter. She travelled with her grandfather for two series before actress Carole Ann Ford decided she wanted to exit the show. The First Doctor gives a heartwarming speech as he departs from Earth, leaving his Granddaughter behind but promising her that he will be back.
While Susan hes returned in the TV series and in plenty of audio dramas, she hasn't been seen since the events of the Time War. However, the writers have never outright confirmed her death in the war, only suggesting that she has been lost. In one comic, the Eleventh Doctor even says that she is lost and he hasn't tried looking for her.
Bringing back Susan would have to be done with care for several reasons, one of which being she is arguably one of the most important characters in the show's history, but bringing her back would be an extremely engaging turn of events. Perhaps better suited to a holiday special or anniversary event (we're only a few years away from the 60th after all), it would be fantastic to honour the original companion while also exploring The Doctor's family history, something that we rarely see in the modern series.
