8 Doctor Who Moments The Creators Don't Like

3. Karen Gillan Wants To Re-Do Her Acting In Series 5

As great as Doctor Who is, it's tough to make the case that it should win any awards for acting. The show's various cast members all work incredibly hard, absolutely, but Doctor Who just isn't the kind of program that tries to compete with the very best performances in the TV space - just ask Karen Gillan.

As Amy Pond, the Scottish redhead captured the hearts of the nation when she popped onto our screens in the fifth series of NuWho, and while that series is incredibly strong, the actress thinks that her bits are a little "meh".

In particular, she thinks that her acting in the first half of the series leaves a lot to be desired, and openly told Fandom that she wishes she could go back and "re-do" it:

"I’d go back to the first half of the first series that I did and just re-do that acting, because I know a lot more about acting now. I was a wee child."

Clearly, Gillan thinks that her youth and lack of experience (she was barely into her twenties when shooting Series 5) affected the quality of her acting, despite the fact that she received tons of great reviews at the time.

We are definitely our own worst critics...

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
