8 Hated TV Episodes That Deserve Redemption

From The Simpsons to Breaking Bad, these despised TV episodes are worth giving another chance.

Everyone has their favourite TV show. And most people will also know what their favourite episode of said TV show is.

Maybe you love that specific one because it's the funniest. Or maybe it's the most heart-breaking. It's quite possibly a season finale or contains some other world-changing event. Whatever the reason, these are the moments of television that we would happily watch on repeat for the rest of our lives.

On the flipside, however, each show has episodes that almost make us regret ever watching it in the first place. They're often the first sign that the show is starting to decline in quality somewhat. Although, sometimes a show will baffle us by having only one awful episode sandwiched in-between its usual fantastic offerings.

And while a lot of bad episodes deserve the scorn they get from fans and critics alike, there are others which have kept their bad reputation for no good reason at all. Maybe they seemed bad on broadcast but have aged well since then. Or maybe they just weren't that bad in the first place and the fanbase went into meltdown over nothing.

Let's see if there isn't at least one episode of your favourite TV show that deserves another chance.

8. The Lost Sister - Stranger Things

This episode likely would have been better received if it didn’t interrupt one of the biggest moments of Stranger Things’ second season. The Upside Down’s demodogs are massing into one giant horde and are about to break into the lab where several of our main characters are trapped inside…

And then we get a totally unrelated episode about Eleven and her new friends. But while the episode’s placement is unfortunate, it still offers an important insight into Eleven’s psyche.

In previous episodes of the show, we only really get to see Eleven in relation to how other characters see her, mostly because she doesn’t speak that much in the first two seasons. The Lost Sister allows her to truly become her own person and establishes her firm morals regarding life and death.

The contrast with new character Kali, who is much more blasé about killing former employees of Hawkins Lab, makes Eleven a stronger character. Her decision to leave the group, despite Kali being a fellow survivor of Hawkins Lab, and returning to save her friends is also a strong character moment and ultimately makes the episode a vital one.

There’s no defending some of those costumes though.
