There are many theories over who Claire is. Some call her an offshoot of Clara since she has a look of Jenna Coleman and uses Clara-ish phrases. That doesn’t feel right though. Surely if that were the case Jenna Coleman would have just been brought back.

Another theory says that Claire is the Doctor and this is more believable. The house that Claire approaches has a familiar blue door. She uses the phrase “Going home, the long way round,” which was spoken by the Eleventh Doctor at the end of Day of the Doctor.

In one promo shot, Claire is seen with some 1960s-style tech and a chair with a headpiece hanging on it, which looks like it might be a chameleon arch. So is Claire a Doctor from the past or future hiding as a human?

Despite the evidence, some fans still aren’t convinced. Maybe it’s too obviously trying to throw us off and lead us down a path we don’t need to follow. Instead, some fans have considered that Claire could even be the Angel.

That would explain why it’s hiding its face from her - something that a lot of fans complained about. But why would she be the Angel that’s trying to send herself back? Is she trying to help herself avoid that horrible fate that turned her into a monster or ensuring it happens?
