5. Bart Dies In An Unaired Episode Of The Simpsons

Fox

Dead Bart is purportedly an episode of The Simpsons that was never aired, and was potentially never supposed to air, created merely out of a sense of morbid creative curiosity. Given the fact there's an episode of Dexter's Laboratory in which all of the characters violently swear, anything is possible...right?

The rumour claims to explain the reason for some odd episode numbering during the early seasons of the show, as the supposed €œDead Bart€ episode was shelved and messed up the order. It's said that Dead Bart begins on a plane trip, but soon becomes dark after Bart €“ in an attempt to cause trouble €“ accidentally smashes a window and falls to his death. This is followed by a surreal sequence of mourning.

Of course, as infamous as the Dead Bart episode is to die hard Simpsons fans, it's widely believed to be completely fake. Nevertheless the rumour persists, and there are those who insist in its validity, going so far as to suggest that Fox were responsible for the popularity of the rumour, an attempt to discredit the team of animators responsible.
