2. The Hotel - Rocko's Modern Life
And here we have Rocko's second entry of smut. All I want to know now is why my parents let me watch this. Rocko and Heffer need a hotel room for the night. The sign in the window mentions "hourly rates". The front desk clerk informs them they won't have a room for 20 minutes. Not even a second later, a "premature departure" leaves a room available. After saying he and Heffer need a room all night, the clerk then whistles as if he's impressed. I don't think I need to spell out the implications here between the sexual stamina references and the not-at-all subtle hints that there's a lot going on behind the motel's closed doors, you'd have to be very naive to pick up all the sexual undercurrents. Still my god, how did they get away with this? This had to have aired on an adult channel first, right? There's no way all of this stuff would go straight to Nickelodeon. But hell, it did. It started off as an unpublished comic book, but everything we saw as kids was original content approved by Nickelodeon. This was before we had those ratings systems for TV shows. I'm pretty sure this would've fallen into the TV-14 range. Someone must've caught on later, because this was later banned from future reruns.
