8 Reasons The Walking Dead Has Lost Its Way This Season

4. Expecting Fans To Accept That Negan's Men Wouldn't Turn On Him

There's a massive problem with the entire concept of Negan, and it's this:

A dictator can rule by fear. Of course he can. You have Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong-Il and Un, just about anyone. However, they cannot do it alone.

The key to success for these tyrants is a group of supporters who are rarely if ever the target of their wrath. Hussein was criminally brutal to anyone who would oppose him, but his closest allies were loyal right up to the end (or basically when the country was invaded anyway), and it wasn't because he treated them as punching bags.

Negan? Negan pretty much treats everyone like garbage, including his top lieutenants. Which is why it's unfathomable that his own men - heavily armed and seemingly capable - haven't turned on him yet. Sure, maybe Dwight can't bring himself to take Negan out, but clearly, the other members of the Saviors know what the score is, and are treated almost as poorly.

There's willing suspension of disbelief, and then there's sheer absurdity. This is the latter.
