8 TV Shows That Should've Stopped At Season One
5. Stranger Things
This one may be a little bit controversial but Stranger Things has never really managed to reach the stratospheric heights of the original eight episodes. The first season took the world by storm by combining 1980s nostalgia with a spooky mystery for its cast of compelling, three-dimensional characters to solve. It had heart-warming and heart-breaking moments in equal measure and managed to deliver a message on the power of friendship without feeling overly cheesy.
The second season was still reasonably well-received, although many considered it underwhelming. Critical ire was directed especially at ‘The Lost Girl’ from season two, an episode where Eleven took some time off to go and run around with the cast of The Warriors for an hour. Mike also went from a somewhat sarcastic but sweet kid in season one to being a little bit more standoffish. This certainly isn’t uncommon for a young boy going through teenage growing pains, but it still put a few fans off.
Whether you think season three justified the show’s continued existence or not is ultimately a matter of personal preference. Let’s just hope that season four, if it can’t manage to surpass season one, at least doesn’t make us wonder why we’re all still watching.
