8 TV Villains Who Redeemed Themselves
1. Walter White - Breaking Bad
Walter’s gradual moral decline into villain felt inevitable, where he went from mild-mannered teacher to meth kingpin. He became more and more cunning with each passing season, willing to kill and maim to protect himself and his family.
Season five is where the switch to villain was complete since he had a chance to walk away. Instead, he doubles down on meth production, which eventually leads to his downfall. The death of his brother in law Hank destroys his family, he allows Jesse to be taken away and tortured and he winds up alone in an isolated cabin.
It was fascinating to see this moral collapse, but there was enough of the old Walter left to seek redemption. He returns to stop the meth production and save Jesse, becoming fatally wounded in the process. He could never fully undo his sins, but at least his last act was a noble one.
