8 Ways Westworld Is Basically A Video Game
4. Different Types Of Player
If you’ve played any relatively active video game online, you will be entirely aware of the diversity in the number of players who play, and the lengths some of them will go to to ruin your experience. Much like in these online communities, the lack of consequences for actions mean that many run riot. Westworld has introduced us to a few guests so far and they eerily represent both the good and the bad of online gaming.
Le's start with the good: William has so far perfectly represented a rookie player that is completely happy with the game taking him where it may and has to be deterred by Logan (Ben Barnes) from embracing many side quests, that Logan believes aren’t worth it. He is conservative, choosing not to shake the boat.
Then we have Logan and the Man in Black (Ed Harris): both characters have traits that could see them defined as that annoying player who kills any NPCs they want with no regard for the wider implications.
However, the Man in Black is closer to that high-powered guy who steam rolls through any player in his sights because he needs to get that achievement or find that Easter egg. Whilst Logan is just there to indulge his vices and is eager to get into the big battle to cause complete chaos.
