9 Most Important Deaths In Game Of Thrones
9. Jon Arryn
Jon Arryn is the first of four names that the Red God took before the beginning of the show. This death is the perfect place to start the list as this Mans death is the inciting incident for the pilot, and by extension the entire run of the series.
Jon was Lord of the Vale and mentor to young Ned Stark. This may very well be the man who taught him his staunch Northern principles and honourable sensibilities. Serving Robert Baratheon as hand was by all accounts a grind for the man, conflicting with the crown stag in a very similar way to Lord Eddard.
His death under less than kosher circumstances was thought by savvier parties to have been a means to an end, isolating the drunken, debauched king further from wise council and the safety of trusted and dutiful friends. Even savvier parties believed he uncovered a secret.
The Lannister incest rumours were about to be substantiated further. Being married to the crown would hold no protection for the Queen or her children. Ned Stark wisely listened to Robert and agreed to replace Arryn, rediscovering what Arryn found and setting all of this in motion.
