9 Reasons Doctor Who Flux Could Be The Best New Who Series

7. The Performances

Doctor Who Flux
BBC

Jodie Whittaker has been a great Doctor. She's developed and grown from series to series, but here she's at her absolute best. Flux has been giving Jodie the writing she deserves and it's clear from her energetic performances that she's having the time of her life.

Mandip is just like Yaz who has spent so long with the Doctor. It's done wonders for her confidence and she now commands attention in her scenes. She was always a strong performer but something about her now is even more captivating.

John Bishop is such a loveable new addition to the team. After initial concerns about the casting, Bishop proved himself within his first scene and continues to impress beyond. His cheeky grin and quick witted comedy fits his character perfectly and ensured that he could easily be our favourite new companion in a long time.

Aside from the TARDIS crew, the supporting cast are giving standout performances too. Craig Els as Karvanista does brilliantly despite being hidden behind a face full of fur. He had fans calling for him to be made a companion, as did Sara Powell who plays Mary Seacole. Annabel Scholey has appeared in two scenes so far but fans are already obsessed with her character, Claire.

Sam Spruell and Rochenda Sandall have absolutely stolen the show though, as Swarm and Azure; possibly the greatest New Who villains yet.

Simon is a writer, cat dad and presenter of a geeky radio show with his husband. He loves Doctor Who (except 10 who can get in the bin…only joking.) He idolises Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lara Croft and would 100% be a Sith Lord in a galaxy far, far away. He wishes life was like a musical so he’d actually be a good singer.
