Outside Sardicktown, the other main location in A Christmas Carol is the starliner Thrasymachus. That's also the name of a real-life Greek philosopher and teacher, so there's another fun fact for you!

It wasn't just history that this craft borrowed from, as it also took inspiration from a fellow classic sci-fi show.

The bridge of the ship, where Amy and Rory speak to the Doctor in their funny honeymoon outfits, was designed to replicate various different incarnations of the Enterprise from Star Trek.

This could be because the first J. J. Abrams-directed Star Trek movie had come out the year before, so it was fresh in the Doctor Who team's minds.
