Agent Carter: 10 Easter Eggs And References You Need To See
3. The Original Jarvis!
Oh yeah, the other big connection between Agent Carter and Iron Man: audiences finally get to meet JARVIS's namesake! The AI voiced by Paul Bettany in the first three Iron Man films frequently works as a foil to and comic relief alongside Tony Stark, but is apparently going to be upgraded to full superhero status when Bettany plays the superheroic android The Vision starting with this summer's Avengers: Age Of Ultron sequel. Stark has hinted in the past that his robotic creation was named for his father's butler, but this is the first time we've gotten to see the original Jarvis in the flesh. Whilst unfortunately his casting as The Vision stopped Bettany from going full circle with the AI's inspiration, but James D'Arcy acquits himself rather well. Botht he robot JARVIS and D'Arcy's Edwin Jarvis are inspired by the character of the same name from the comic books, not only Stark's personal butler but the man tasked with keeping the Avengers Mansion in one piece from day to day. It doesnt look like the original will be alive to fill such a role in the MCU, but it's a cute take on the character nonetheless.
