Agents Of SHIELD: 10 Best Deaths So Far
Sometimes death actually does last in the MCU...
It's an understatement to say that Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD has grown from its early days. After two seasons, the series has evolved completely, moving beyond the day-to-day missions of the team to one where the ongoing battle against HYDRA opened the door for the introduction of Inhumans and fundamentally altered the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward.
With a newly one-handed (and definitely not dead, no matter what Whedon says) Coulson and Skye now working towards creating the Secret Warriors; May taking time away from her job; Bobbi and Hunter rethinking their future; Ward still alive and picking up the pieces of HYDRA; Fitz eagerly awaiting a date and Simmons' fate left dangling as the season's cliffhanger, the possibilities for what the third season can be and where it can go are endless.
Earlier this month, we took a look at 50 of the best deaths the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had across its film and television entries. Since that time, the final two weeks of Agents of SHIELD have aired, with the war between SHIELD and the Inhumans leaving a number of bodies on both sides in its wake. Over the course of its two seasons, heroes and villains alike have fallen, with a number of these losses having a huge impact on the narrative and/or its characters.
So as fans eagerly await what comes next, let's take an obviously spoiler-filled look back at the 10 best sendoffs the show has had yet...
10. Gordon
The Episode: SOS Part 2
The teleporting Inhuman proved time and again throughout the back half of season two that he was loyal to his people, even newcomers like Skye and Raina. However, his longtime friendship and respect for Jiaying led to him joining her side over Raina's went it came down to the fateful meeting with SHIELD.
With Jiaying's plans playing out aboard the Iliad in the second season finale, Gordon was tasked with unleashing the Terrigen Crystals, coming face-to-face with Mack, Coulson and Fitz, whose tech drastically diminished Gordon's abilities.
In a moment that mirrored Loki's murder of Coulson in The Avengers, Gordon teleported behind Fitz. Fortunately, though, Fitz beat him to the punch, with Gordon materializing with a rod through his body that Fitz had been sticking backwards.
