2. It's Different And Unpredictable

The series recently enjoyed its LA premiere, and as such the cast and crew have been speaking about just what the show is going to be like.

Caitlin said that there is nothing else like it on TV, pointing to the wide-range of genres it encompasses:

"It has crime drama elements, it has Western elements, it has Tarantino elements… all of these great and exciting genres, but you've never seen them put together. There's nothing else on TV we can point to and say, 'It's like that!' There's elements of Walking Dead you could point to, but that lives within a specific genre, whereas Preacher lives within four or five different genres."

That all sounds like one hell of a mix, although not necessarily the easiest to balance. Goldberg made a comparison to Game of Thrones, in terms of the surprising things characters will do, but called it "more unpredictable," adding: "This goes places metaphysically and intellectually and philosophically and emotionally that I don't think any other show has done or will do."

Joe Gulgan summed it up most succinctly, saying: "Everyone constantly pisses and moans about wanting to see something different, how there's nothing 'different' on TV. Well, for f**k's sake, man, if this isn't it? Then we're all f**ked. Might as well stop watching TV."

Different and unpredictable? Obviously the people involved will be trying to promote the series as much as possible, but based on the premise and what we've seen so far, I think it's fair to say those two words are definitely accurate descriptions. Now we've just got to hope the rest of it holds up.
