America to remake RANDALL & HOPKIRK (DECEASED)

Syfy to remake British cult hit about a detective and his ghostly partner

Cult '60s classic Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) is set to be remade in America by Syfy, who have acquired the rights to this British series about a detective whose dead partner returns as a ghost to help him solve crimes. The original series aired on ITV in 1969 for 26 episodes and was a cult hit in the US on syndication in 1972, where it was renamed My Partner The Ghost. A British remake was broadcast in 2000, starring Vic Reeves, Bob Mortimer, Emilia Fox and Tom Baker, but it only lasted 13 episodes before it was axed. Syfy's remake will be masterminded by Josh Bycel and Jonathen Fener (two writers on satirical animation American Dad!) and Howard Braunstein of Jaffe/Braunstein Entertainment. Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Syfy:
"Josh and Jonathan have found a great way to update the buddy cop formula with a supernatural twist. We look forward to working with them, Howard and ITV to bring new life to this British classic."
