When season 2 starts, Roy is working at Olivers nightclub Verdant (now owned and run by Thea), but has been spending his nights patrolling neighborhoods and fighting thugs. Thea finds out about his late-night activities and threatens to break up with him if he doesnt stop. Luckily for him, after unknowingly informing Oliver of his discovery of the Triads hijacking of medical supplies (which Oliver and Diggle put a stop to), Roy is approached by the Hood, who says Roy can be his eyes and ears on the street if he stops fighting criminals Roy has a few adventures with the Hood, but nothing compared to what he went through these last two episodes. When Roys friend Sin asks for his help with finding her missing friend Max, Roy eventually finds Max dead with blood leaking from his eyes. After telling the Hood about this, he says hes tired of being an informant and is going to investigate this on his own. This reaction earns him an arrow in the leg to slow him down. Undeterred, Roy gets stitched up and breaks into the psychiatric facility and finds the word Mirakuru printed on Maxs file. Unfortunately for him, he is captured by Cyrus Gold and injected with the serum when brought before Brother Blood. Roy dies from the injection, but Oliver resuscitates him, and Roy he has the same strength and endurance that Cyrus had. Its been hinted throughout the episodes that people who survive the serum have a deep anger within them, so itll be interesting to see whether this anger will drive how Roy uses these powers. Chances are he will somehow lose the powers before the season is done. Considering that he doesnt have superpowers in the comics (unless you count a robotic arm), it's likely the writers will want to stick to the source material on that front. After all, he still needs to learn those cool archery skills, and theres no reason to use a bow if youre capable of punching through concrete.
