Arrow Season 4: 5 Reasons To Be Excited About John Constantine

3. One And Done

Constantine Matt Ryan
NBC

After a third season in which guest stars received what many fans consider undue attention in a show meant to be about Oliver and over a hiatus that has featured the announcement of new face after new face for the fourth season, the news that Matt Ryan as former protagonist of his own show would be making appearance was not entirely welcome in all circles. The show does not need yet another character elbowing Oliver out of the spotlight.

According to new executive producer Wendy Mericles, however, this will not be the case with John Constantine. The confirmation that Ryan’s arc on Arrow will be a one-and-done situation is a relief considering all of the characters that will need to be juggled in Season 4 as the show does its part to launch spinoff Legends of Tomorrow as well as advance its own plot. That’s not to say that - barring an unlikely death in his one episode – Constantine won’t have the chance to return to the series, but that he will not be a dangling thread is promising for his appearance.
