Arrow Season 5 Premiere: 13 Questions We're Asking After 'Legacy'
7. Is This The Beginning Of A More Political Arrow?
Arrow's dipped its toes into political waters previously, with the early days looking at the inequality in Star City, and some passing examination of corruption in the police.
Now, with Oliver as Mayor, it has a chance to really get political and be more than just a superhero (sorry, vigilante) show.
There are direct callouts to the police being corrupt here from Oliver, setting that up to be an important plot point in the first few episodes at least. And with Oliver wanting to get Star City back on track, and talking about helping others, there's a chance for him to be - like his character from the comics - a person who fights to stop these injustices, both as Mayor and Green Arrow.
It'd be a way of honouring the comics without changing the nature of this version of the character too much, and having some serious plot points and depth to cover outside the action.
