9. Was Earth-One's Laurel Lance Ever Set To Return?
Green Arrow and the Canaries revealed that Earth-2's Laurel Lance is the version of that character who survived Crisis but some fans have struggled to understand why she would live instead of the original Earth-1 Laurel.
"I think if we weren’t doing a spinoff, we probably would have gone a different way," Guggenheim admits. "We’ve really fallen in love over the years with the Earth-Two version of Laurel. [We] love the complexities of that character’s sort of moral seesaw. She’s just always been a more interesting character to us."
The original Laurel was always somewhat divisive among fans so this might be a decision that's ultimately for the best. After all, her redemption arc has been infinitely more satisfying that her doppelgänger's attempt to become a vigilante and as Schwartz notes, she's "come such a long way from murdering people all the time to becoming the hero she was at the end of Season 8."
Now, her story will hopefully continue in the aforementioned spinoff series (which has yet to receive the green light from The CW).
