The pilot that started it all, Arrow's premiere offering was a gritty retelling of the Green Arrow's origins that let us know exactly what we should expect from the first season.

It was undoubtedly a bold move taking such a light-hearted character and dousing him in post-Dark Knight realism, but it really worked as Stephen Amell's broody Oliver Queen instantly made an impression on viewers.

More than that, the character's arc made for an incredibly compelling focal point of the show, as viewers were equally eager to see if he'd work things out with his family and Laurel as they were to see him put on the green hood.

Anchored by strong performances from leading actors Stephen Amell and Katie Cassidy, the pilot was a love letter of sorts to the 2005 film Batman Begins as it saw The Hood tick the first of his targets off his list and, in the process, set an incredibly high standard for the series - a standard that it rarely ever matched again after Season 2.

Though the show unfortunately would multiple times throughout its third and fourth seasons, the Arrow pilot did not fail its fans.
