Arrowverse: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

9. Arrow Season 5

Arrow Season 5
The CW

Arrow went back to basics for its fifth season and the difference was clear from the offset.

Gone were the over-the-top theatrics that came with mysticism, and, mercifully, gone was the toxic romance that turned the show into a parody of itself. Instead, we got a narrative so refined that the whole season practically revolved around it and there were no melodramatic subplots.

One of the reasons it worked so well was down to the portrayal of its villain and his relationship with Oliver Queen. Prometheus was a terrifying avenger born out one of the Arrow's earliest sins, making the show's overarching narrative all the more intense because of how personal it was.
