8. Black Lightning Season 3

Black Lightning Season 3 Episode 10 Jefferson Anissa
The CW

Black Lightning doesn't shy away from hard-hitting material, but it took that to the next level with its poignant third season.

Jefferson's battle against racial injustice was no longer exclusive to the streets of Freeland as he found himself in the midst of a corrupt government takeover and had to fight his way out from underneath the oppression that threatened those he loved. Furthermore, the writing was more timely than ever because it dealt with kids being ripped away from their families and unlawfully imprisoned.

Black Lightning doesn't just tackle these issues, it pulls them into the light for its viewers to see - starting conversations that really aren't being had enough. The third season reiterated that, giving it its most thought-provoking and compelling story yet.
