Batman v Superman v Doctor Who: 10 Heroic Connections
4. John Cleese - Art Lover/Superman: True Brit
At the height of his success with Fawlty Towers, comedy giant (quite literally) John Cleese agreed to appear in Doctor Who as a favour to pal and script editor Douglas Adams. A cameo with Eleanor Bron in City Of Death proved short and sweet. The pair played pretentious pundits in Paris, whose analysis of the TARDIS as an art installation got interrupted by The Doctor's abrupt entrance and dematerialization. Cleese's contribution to the Man Of Steel's adventures is less well-known, some might say with good reason. Together with Kim Howard Johnson, he wrote Superman: True Brit, which in true Monty Python fashion reworked the legend of DC's patriotic protector as a flying Englishman. It was lauded and lambasted in equal measure and contained various irreverent details, like a cheeky appearance from colleague Eric idle's spoof Beatles band The Rutles.
