In the penultimate episode of the series, many threads are brought together as the crew of the Galactica decide what to do in the wake of Hera's kidnap by Boomer. However, there is a revelation in Starbuck's journey that confirms - and adds more mystery - to her return at the end of Crossroads.

Kara presents the dog tags that she took from the body on Earth to Baltar. She tells him exactly where she got them and asks him to try and find out what it means. Baltar, slipping back into scientist mode for the first time in a long time, studies the cells that he finds on them.

There is no question: the DNA belongs to Kara, and it is nercrotic DNA, meaning that the body on Earth was that of Kara's, and she was definitely dead.

In typical Baltar style, he attempts to turn this to his advantage, 'outing' her during a funeral ceremony on the hanger deck. In a moment of deep hurt, Kara slaps him.

And then - she sits in the memorial hallway and, with very little dialogue, she seems as though a weight has been lifted. In a sense, she has been freed.

It is a beautiful moment.
