Batwoman Season 1 Premiere: 7 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Pilot'

Ups...

7. It's SO Much Better Than The Trailer

Once upon a time, all was going well for Batwoman. Ruby Rose's appearance in Elseworlds had gone down incredibly well and, as everything from the feel to the overall costume was so perfect, it had all of us excited to see the character on a weekly basis. And then the show's debut trailer changed everything.

With a focus on the less theatrical elements, a terrible choice of song and its utilization of those corny and nonsensical lines of dialogue as closing punchlines, it understandably rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way simply because this was not the comic-accurate Batwoman that was promised to us in the crossover.

Thankfully, the whole product was so much better than the trailer suggested it was going to be. With a strong story, proper music and just enough theatrics to leave us wanting more, the show is already beginning to feel like the Batwoman we hoped for.

The fact that one trailer can sour anticipation for one of the year's most anticipated shows really goes to show you how important marketing really is. Thankfully, the strength of the Pilot has allowed Batwoman to break free from its shadow once and for all and, in doing so, leave it in the rear view mirror.
