Better Call Saul: 10 Best Characters Only In One Episode

They deserved more screen-time.

With Breaking Bad being the GOAT of TV dramas, fans were skeptical when the showrunner, Vince Gilligan, announced a prequel series focused on Walter White's sketchy lawyer, Saul Goodman.

Although Slippin' Jimmy was among the most beloved characters in the series, a continuation still seemed unnecessary.

Thankfully, the naysayers were way off. Better Call Saul is proof one can catch lightning in a bottle twice. Like it's predecessor, the show has phenomenal editing, exquisite direction, and an air-tight script.

However, what really makes Better Call Saul tower over other dramas are the characters. Not only did some of the old gang return like Hank, Mike, and Gus, the series introduced new members to the flock, including Chuck, Lalo, Nacho, and Kim. These characters are compelling, not just because of the mesmerising performances, but also because they feel like real people since they've been fleshed out over the years.

However, there are some who only made a single appearance, and yet, managed to steal the show. Ken Wins, Ed, and Yolanda only popped up briefly and still managed to make a long-lasting impression.

10. Skeev - Mabel (S3E1)

Although Better Call Saul takes place several years before the events in Breaking Bad, some episodes open in the present day. In these scenes, we see Jimmy McGill has taken on a different identity, Gene Takavic, to avoid being arrested for his association with Walter White. While working at a shopping mall store, Gene keeps a low profile so he won't be recognised by the authorities.

But there is one moment where we get to see the old Saul Goodman. While sitting at a bench during his lunch break, Gene sees a teenage shoplifter called Skeev evade security by hiding in a phone booth. When one of the officers asks Gene if he saw anyone run by, he points to the booth, ratting the shoplifter out.

As the security have Skeev arrested, Gene reverts to his Saul persona, ordering the teenager to say nothing to the police until he gets a lawyer. Even though Skeev never says a single line, his character is significant since his interaction with Jimmy allows him to shuffle off his Gene persona for the first time.
