There have been countless great cop shows on TV, and many of them based in New York, but still Brooklyn Nine-Nine manages to stand out as something special. One of the biggest reasons for this is the characters. From Jake and Holt down to Hitchcock and Scully, every main character goes towards making the show different.

This, however, goes further than just the main characters. Though we have gotten to know them over seven seasons, and built genuine connections and attachments, there are some that only appear in one single episode, and are still able to make a lasting impression.

Over the years, these characters have come in all shapes and sizes. There have been new captains at the precinct, never before seen siblings, and even the greatest detective Raymond Holt has ever had the pleasure of working with.

To be remembered so fondly after just one episode is an impressive feat for every single one of these characters. Whether it is due to an excellent story, a huge star portraying them, they are just simply hilarious, or a combination of the three, there is no shortage of these people in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

10. Captain Dozerman

When Raymond Holt, amidst one of his many run-ins with Madeline Wuntch, was transferred to One Police Plaza as part of the PR team, someone had to step into his role as Captain of the Nine-Nine. To kick off season three, in stepped Captain Seth Dozerman, portrayed by none other than Bill Hader.

From the moment the new Captain starts his introductory monologue, he establishes his authority thanks to his 'amazing sense of humour', and continues to tell each and every member of the Nine-Nine how little he will value them going forward. As far as character introductions go, there are few better than Seth Dozerman's.

After collapsing the first time, the new Captain returns with his attitude on efficiency and numbers stronger than ever before. During his second speech, it's so funny you can almost catch Hader himself chuckle while explaining he carries the gene for webbed feet.

The new Captain ultimately lasted only two days in his position in the Nine-Nine, falling victim to a fatal heart attack after catching Jake and Amy kissing in the evidence locker. As much as the precinct was better off without him, more Dozerman for the audience would have been welcome.
