Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 10 Best Characters Only In One Episode

8. Stevie Schillens

Brooklyn Nine Nine Jess New Girl
NBC

One of the best aspects throughout the entirety of Brooklyn Nine-Nine has always been Jake and Charles' bromance. The two are excellent together, but what makes it special is Charles' devotion and adoration to his best friend, and the insane jealously that hits him at the slightly provocation.

Thanks to a plumbing problem in another of Brooklyn's police departments, the Nine-Nine has to absorb the Nine-Eight for a short time, reuniting Jake with his old buddy Stevie, played by Marlon Wayans Jr. When Peralta introduces his friend as one of the all time greats, Boyle's jealousy hits top level immediately.

Stevie himself is essentially another Jake Peralta. As one half of the Beatsie Boys, he is just as goofy as his old partner, raps with Jake in the car, and has the same weird sense of humour. They are two sides of the same coin, leaving Charles feeling like a third wheel.

Clearly, Stevie wishes Boyle weren't there, and the two enter a rivalry to be Jake's best friend. It's as funny and as ridiculous as it sounds. Stevie constantly undermines him, slaps him the face, and deliberately calls him Earl, before planting drugs and framing their target.

Stevie, Jake, and Charles end up starting a mass brawl between the two precincts before singing to Toni Braxton on the way to jail.
