Brooklyn Nine-Nine: 10 Best Characters Only In One Episode

4. Frank Dillman

Brooklyn Nine Nine Jess New Girl
NBC

There have been some wonderful guest stars on Brooklyn Nine-Nineover the years, but possibly one of the biggest names of all is J.K. Simmons. J. Jonah Jameson himself appeared in the episode 'Dillman' during season seven as an old acquaintance of Captain Holt. There must be something very special about the man Holt calls the best detective he ever worked with.

After being wrongly fired while investigating corruption in the NYPD, Frank Dillman moved to San Francisco, but was in town for lunch with the Captain and agreed to help the Nine-Nine to solve the case of who planted a glitter bomb on Peralta's desk.

Dillman is suave, professional, and intimidating - basically another Holt in the building. His interrogation of Diaz is wonderful, as he convinces every member of the precinct that he is an excellent detective, until Jake gets on the case.

It turns out Dillman was fired from the SFPD some years ago, and he been working part time at Yarn Barn ever since. There was quite a hilarious change in attitude and aura when he had to speak to his boss over the phone. Dillman was a great episode made so by J.K. Simmons and his pathetic, former badass character.
