Buffy The Vampire Slayer: 10 Most Uplifting Moments

8. Buffy's Power Speech - Season 5, Episode 12

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Willow And Xander
Mutant Enemy

Buffy proves to have a knack for speeches throughout the show, and whilst this trait was utilised more than ever in the final season, Buffy's speech about power near the end of Season Five still stands as her best.

When the Watchers Council return to Sunnydale to put her and her friends through a series of tests, Buffy decides she's had enough and lets them all know exactly what's on her mind.

The speech finds the Slayer analysing why the Council need her more than she needs them, and how without her and her power they are all useless. She also sticks up for her friends, saying each of them are more powerful than the Council could ever imagine, each of them "part of the unit".

To top it all off, Buffy even gets Giles his job back and makes the senior Watcher, Quentin Travers (Harris Yulin), give up all he knows about the new big bad, Glory (Clare Kramer).

It's a brilliant moment in which Buffy shows she's a lot more than just a woman who fights evil - she's also a leader who won't be talked down to by people who don't deserve her.
