2. The Harvest
Following on from the cliffhanger of Welcome to the Hellmouth, The Harvest follows big bad The Master as he attempts to rise from the underworld with the help of his trusted minion Luke. Desperate to stop them and save their friend Jesse, the Scooby Gang team-up for the first time and ride into battle.
The Harvest is an episode of twists, the best of which comes from the death of Jesse (soon to be forgotten forever), and finally cements the fact that although Buffy wants to leave her destiny behind, in Sunnydale that won't be possible.
Upping the action and adding dense material to the show's backstory and growing mythology, The Harvest is just a small taste of the things to come, but it still holds up as a thrilling hour of supernatural fun that's impossible to resist in its own right.
