Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
2. Season Two
The most famous season of the show, Season Two took the well-written and well performed characters of the first season and actually did things with them. Willow met Oz, Xander and Cordelia started their weird but amusing love affair, and Angel lost his soul and tried to cause the apocalypse.
Season Two upped the tension by introducing the chaotic duo of Spike and Drusilla, who would quickly become fan favourites and brought a sense of 'coolness' to the show. Angel's aforementioned turn to evil is the best twist in the whole Buffyverse and begins the greatest storyline on the show.
Angel snapping the neck of Giles' love interest Jenny Calendar then leaving her body for him to find is fittingly horrifying, and the fact they didn't hold back with Angel's dark turn is one of the reasons the arc is so successful. The culmination is emotionally charged and exciting, and narratively speaking the show never quite reached this level of captivation again.
Sadly, some of the season struggles with leftover budget issues from Season One that still make certain episodes, creatures and fight scenes look cheap and dated. The show is at its peak of storytelling here, but the visuals and production can take you out of some key moments.
