Casting Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot
4. Sean Bean - Rupert Giles
A general rule of life is that Sean Bean should be cast in everything, but that doesn't mean that this decision is a cop out.
Rupert Giles is one of Buffy's most moral and compelling creations - a Watcher who is at once very posh and a one-time rebel. He is one of the show's key backbones, a wise and loving father figure to Buffy (and the rest of the gang, to be honest) who suffers numerous tragedies and heartaches over the course of the show.
Who better to play a loving, compassionate and intelligent man with a dark past than Sean Bean?
Bean needs no introduction - he's been in everything from Lord of the Rings to James Bond, Game of Thrones to National Treasure, and he's always the most compelling person on screen.
With his iconic voice, up-standing appearance and ability to play men who are both tough but fair, Bean would be a welcome choice to play Giles.
Plus, it would give him the chance to play a character who doesn't die.
