Casting Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot

5. Alisha Boe - Cordelia Chase

Buffy Sean
Netflix

From 2017 to 2020, Alisha Boe was the heart and soul of the controversial high school drama 13 Reasons Why. Ignoring the show's issues, what is left behind is a striking, twisting and energetic performance from Boe, who plays abuse survivor Jessica Davis, one of the show's strongest and most complex figures.

In the role, Boe was clever and relatable, tragic and yet inspiring. Jessica's one of the true good guys on the drama, but has proven to have a mean streak.

This balance of genuine sensitivity and snarky wit would make Boe the perfect choice to play a rebooted Cordelia Chase, Sunnydale High's very own mean girl with a heart of gold.

Boe has shown she can play high school students; she's shown that he can balance the tragic with the heartwarming; and she knows how to hold your attention when on-screen, just like Cordelia, who demands attention wherever she goes.

Cordelia is complicated but watchable every step of the way, and Boe would make the role her own whilst respecting the original.
