Casting Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot

Angel. Is. Hard. To. Recast. For starters, David Boreanaz portrayed the character for more episodes than any other character on either Buffy or its spin-off, appearing in 20 more episodes than Buffy Summers herself. Brooding, quiet, broken, haunted, romantic - playing Angel is a seriously difficult role to pull off.

But there is one actor who comes to mind - Ian Nelson, who has a brief role in the Hunger Games and stars in Teen Wolf as a young Derek Hale.

In Teen Wolf, Derek is mysterious, moody, secretive and loving (once you get beyond his cold, unapproachable exterior). Nelson only plays the character for three episodes over two seasons, but he absolutely nailed it with every scene.

Derek, all told, is kind of like Teen Wolf's Angel - the good guy who no one's sure of, but ends up being a vital member of the main gang.

This, added to the fact that Nelson looks the part, makes the young talent a great choice for the cursed vampire.
