Casting Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Reboot

6. Dax - Tessa Thompson

Tessa Thompson Creed
Warner Bros.

Tessa Thompson has been impressing with almost every role that she has delivered to date (let us agree not to speak of Men In Black: International). While she achieved the most widespread acclaim for her role as Valkyrie, she has shown in her other roles that she is flexible in what she can do.

This is essential in playing a Trill character. Not only does the actor have to embody the named character they are playing, but like playing the Doctor in Doctor Who, there must be something of the previous hosts on board as well.

Blu del Barrio is facing that current struggle at the moment in Star Trek: Discovery. Tessa Thompson has shown that she is more than capable of switching it up when the situation calls for it, and it is easy to believe that behind those eyes are several generations of memories and experience.

She could play either Jadzia or Ezri - as long as there is a Dax in the name, it would be great to see!
