7. Doctor Phlox - Eric Stonestreet
Dr. Phlox was often a source of comic relief in Enterprise. John Billingsley brought an unending upbeat attitude to the ship. The character was one of the more experienced members of the crew, as he had come from another world. Eric Stonestreet, best known to audiences as Cam from Modern Family, would be an ideal choice to become the Denobulan doctor.
This may be a much more comedic take on the man. Stonestreet played one half of the show's much-loved gay couple, infusing his performance with a hyper-camp quality that was endearing. He was responsible for many of the lightest moments on the show. A reboot of Enterprise should be a lighter take on the franchise. One of the reasons the show suffered during its first run was a wildly inconsistent tone. #
Stonestreet can bring high energy to any performance. In this series which should, at its core, be about the adventure of discovery, needs a voice reflecting that. Recent Star Trek has been quite dour on occasion. This fantasy reboot of Enterprise will steer clear away from that, sticking with the spirit of exploration.
