Casting The Star Trek: Enterprise Reboot

5. Hoshi Sato - Karen Fukuhara

Hoshi Sato was not the strongest character in Enterprise. In fact, despite her adeptness at linguistics, she mostly fulfilled the role of 'frightened bridge officer'. This is a disservice to Linda Park who played her, as well as to the character herself. The most interesting thing that the character did before joining the crew was being dishonorably discharged from Starfleet for running a poker game.

Karen Fukuhara may be best known to audiences for one of two roles - The Female from The Boys, or Katana from Suicide Squad. There is an obvious issue in that she doesn't have a lot of dialogue in either, yet her screen presence is undeniable.

She is however a talented voice actress, with credits like She-Ra And The Princesses of Power and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. Hoshi Sato needs redemption in this reboot. Rather than being the ineffectual sideline character that she was originally written as, she should be the most essential member of the team. Communications with new species exist through her.

Fukuhara has delivered confidence and strength in each role that she has played. She would be a fantastic addition to the new crew.
