Elden Henson is solid as a comic foil in Daredevil season 1. As Matt Murdock's right-hand man Foggy Nelson - a man who drinks, cracks jokes and has a horrible ex-girlfriend as a booty call - Henson is a big part of why Daredevil's first season didn't slide into oppressively dark and gloomy territory a lot of the time. But Henson is uneven; not naturally a dramatic performer, he seems more comfortable in the scenes where Foggy is required to bring the laughs, and less so when the script demands he actually be serious. He hasn't dropped any major clangers so far, but episode 10, Nelson V. Murdock, should have made more impact in the scenes between Foggy and Matt, and Charlie Cox isn't the reason why those didn't fully work. If Henson can get comfortable in the role of both comedian and serious thesp, Foggy Nelson may yet become the show's MVP. So far, he's been welcome light relief, but the writers obviously didn't plan Foggy Nelson to be that way only.
