1. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Granted, given the nature of this show i.e. it's not a multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbuster movie, this is extremely unlikely to happen, but if the intention is to give the characters a movie at the end of it then it's surely not completely out of the question. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is the name that has been associated most strongly with the character of Luke Cage and he would certainly be the dream casting, but that was always with a movie in mind. Johnson is a huge Hollywood star now and, though he's humble enough that I can't realistically see him completely shunning the idea of playing Luke Cage in a series, he probably simply doesn't have the time to commit to it. He oozes charisma and attitude and could pull-off Cage's one-liners effortlessly, and he certainly has the action experience, the screen presence and the build to smash the role to bits, but it just seems out of the question based on his profile. It would be an absolutely perfect casting, however. So there you have it; eight actors who could potentially play Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting with a miniseries and culminating in the coming together of a street-level Defenders team.
