2. Dexter will Flee the Country With or Without Debra
I don't know about you, but I for one am really hoping that the incest storyline (I know, I know, they aren't actually related but still) introduced in Season 6 will be completely put to the side and forgotten in this Season and for the rest of the show. Come on Debra, there are plenty other fish in the sea, and I really don't see what the appeal is with dead eyed, unemotional Dexter anyway. Not exactly husband material. That said, the story point has already been introduced, so it is at least possible that Dexter and Debra could become an item. The only way I see Debra and Dexter becoming an item is if Dexter manages to cure himself of his dark passenger- possible but unlikely. Maybe Debra manages to do this for Dexter, and because of their now close living conditions, a sexual relationship begins to blossom. Dexter and Debra having sex however is something I really don't need to see (like Brenda and Billy in the dream sequence at the end of Six Feet Under...eww). Because of this relationship, and because Dexter is cured, maybe they will see no need to hand him over to the police and Debra and Dexter will both leave the police force and live happily ever after, perhaps in another country. Because this show is set up like a tragic drama, this is highly unlikely and against the tone. Having said this, TV shows have ended in more baffling and worse ways and at least this would be a closure of some-kind. The more likely ending however is simply that Dexter flees the country and spends his life hiding out from the police. This wouldn't exactly give the audience the message that crime doesn't pay, however if we were to see Dexter living his life in constant fear of being caught, then at least this would show him suffering to a level. He could alternatively blame his crimes on Masuka and like he did with Doakes get away with everything- though Debra (if she is alive by the end which I am predicting she will be) wouldn't or at least shouldn't let this happen. Or possibly Debra will have helped Dexter cover up his crimes to the point that no one is looking for him any longer and Debra lets him flee town. But would Debra let him flee town if he wasn't cured? At this point that is unlikely, but maybe. Either way, it is my prediction that Debra will probably end up having to raise Harrison as her own, and the show may suggest that Harrison could easily grow up having similar problems to Dexter... but Debra would probably do a much better job raising Harrison than Harry did raising Dexter into a serial killer.
