1. Dexter will Hand Himself Over to the Miami Metro
At this point, this option seems somewhat unlikely given Dexter's character and his lack of interest in spending the rest of his life rotting in a prison cell, though it should still be considered a possibility... and even a likely one at that. Perhaps, seeing as Debra is now in the eyes of the law an accomplish to Dexter, (and considering her responsibility as Lieutenant, if the media and the public found out she was hiding a serial killer there would be public outcry and Debra would herself be looking at a pretty long stint in jail) that LaGuerta for example finds out about the two of them and tells Dexter that if he confesses to his crimes and hands himself in, Debra will get off free and be given a clean slate. Though again, this would seem a little anti climactic wouldn't it? And considering blood and gore have been a big trademark of the series, wouldn't it be better if blood of some-kind is involved heavily in the series finally. It is even possible at this point that, although I really doubt it that Debra could die, and Dexter would feel empty without her so hands himself over to the police. Perhaps (again really unlikely... although he seemed to almost let her die in season 1) Dexter could kill Debra (perhaps because he has been holding back his killer urges for so long) and would feel so guilty afterwards, that he realizes he needs to pay for his crimes. That said, he would probably kill himself for doing an act as shocking as this, and not hand himself to the police. Perhaps even another member of the Miami Metro- Batista or Masuka perhaps will be blamed for his crimes, and the only way to clear their names is to confess what he has done. Confessing his crimes and paying for them in prison is perhaps the only way Dexter will come out of this series with some of our sympathy. If sympathy is important to the show creators, this is probably very likely. But like Breaking Bad, I think the era of sympathetic heroes in TV is over and honestly this show could end in so many ways. This one if much less easy to predict than Breaking Bad surprisingly. So many things could happen between then and now... I for one am eager to see what the writers have in store, and hope the ending can do the series the justice it really deserves.
