Steve Thompson loves a twist. On the subject of Sherlock, his episode, 'The Reichenbach Fall' was a masterpiece that utilised a good few bombshells, shocking every one of the viewers in the process. 'The Curse of the Black Spot' however, was not quite as fruitful. The Doctor had a different theory on what was going on every five minutes. There was a clear line drawn between the siren and the pirate ship. And when it was revealed that the victims of the siren were still alive in a sick bay, but could never leave, it was an interesting conundrum heading into the final moments of the episode. So it was somewhat surprising that the Doctor let Rory die, so that Amy could resuscitate him. What, no final twist, Steve? No big clue that the Doctor's been missing all along, tying up the strands of the episode neatly? Oh. Okay then.
